Welcome to the new One KC Voice citizen engagement blog.
The entries here will highlight what’s happening with citizen engagement in Greater Kansas City — and hopefully encourage you to take part in opportunities to share your views on important issues.
We’ll also spend some time looking at trends and emerging methods for engaging people in dialogue. If you would like to suggest a topic, please e-mail us.
In other exciting news, in just a few weeks, One KC Voice will launch its redesigned Web site. You’ll be able to find event information, project descriptions, and reports detailing what participants in our projects have told us. We hope you like our new style.
For other public participation practitioners: We’d like to include your events on our calendar. We’ll have a page up soon that will allow you to submit your information via an online form. Don’t forget to send us the information early; at least three weeks in advance is definitely preferable. We’ll post a new entry when that page goes up.
In the meantime, don’t forget to visit us at www.onekcvoice.org. We’ll see you soon, and we’ll be wearing our best new outfit.

A new source for civic engagement information: Us!
February 13, 2009Our new Web site launched today at 3 p.m. Take a look around and let us know what you think. We hope that the look and feel will be more user-friendly and inviting.
So what are we going to do with all this space? Our blog will become the foundation for ongoing dialogue about and promotion of civic engagement in the Kansas City region. We’ll highlight opportunities to get involved in discussions, forums and other forms of public discourse. We’ll also look at new and exciting initiatives, methods and practices in the civic engagement field. And starting April 1, be on the lookout for a series of entries on sustainability by guest bloggers from different organizations around the region.
If you’re hosting a discussion or event that’s open to the public, or if you know about public hearings, public comment periods or other civic participation opportunities, we invite you to post them on our calendar. Our hope is that the calendar will become a resource for people — like you — looking to find out how to get involved.
You can find out what projects we’re working on by checking out our issues page.
